Backstory: (CW's for general ghost/death stuff and murder throughout the whole app, a very brief/vague drug mention in monster choices, and a suicide mention but no actual suicide contained to just the backstory, and Andrew and Eddie are legally siblings via Eddie's adoption, which makes things messy, though they're not actually related and don't consider themselves such, and nothing happens between them except feelings neither of them tell the other about while Eddie's alive)

Andrew grew up in Tennessee with his best friend Eddie, where, at 12, they had a horrifying childhood incident involving ghosts and a sinkhole. Eddie's family line has had a ghostly curse for generations, and the ghosts lured him into a situation that forced him to unknowingly accept this curse anew and share it with Andrew, in order to save their lives. The next year, Eddie's parents died and he was adopted by Andrew's family, per his parents' will. They've never considered themselves siblings, and neither of them care about what it says on paper (and no one who's known them seems to, either).

Their new shared powers freaked Andrew out more than Eddie, so he didn't like talking about them. After graduating college, Eddie never told him that enrolling them both in Vanderbilt was really an excuse to return to Tennessee to dig into his family's curse.

After Eddie was killed (considered a suicide), Andrew, who Eddie had left literally everything, went to investigate, meeting Eddie's new friends, classmates, and his roommate. He struggled with grief, especially since Eddie's revenant had found him shortly after death and wouldn't leave him alone.

He was angry when he discovered Eddie's curse research, seeing that he'd kept it from him. He also had zero idea what to make of the fact Eddie had talked about him in a way that made literally everyone he knew think Andrew was his boyfriend rather than best friend. Andrew hasn't begun to really realize he's gay, or that Eddie had been gay and in love with him, or that he'd loved Eddie romantically. In trying to figure things out, Andrew initially accused Sam, one of Eddie's friends, of killing him. Sam absolutely did not, and was angry, but also wanted to figure out who'd killed Eddie.
Personality:
+Default emotional state and temperament: Andrew is noticeably different with and without Eddie around. He admits himself that Eddie's goading enthusiasm had always gotten him to be more social, more notably high energy. On his own, he tends to be quieter and more subdued, along with being a bit more awkward. Sometimes, it's a lot more than 'a bit' awkward. He's generally not talented with small talk, and he doesn't say the typical 'just to be nice' things. Without the safety net of Eddie at his side, Andrew sort of fumbles through social situations and tends to put his foot in his mouth, saying the wrong thing--sometimes without even realizing it. He's fairly oblivious and can cross lines unaware. He can also be sarcastic and even cruel sometimes, though the cruelties tend to be unintentional unless he's pissed off and is trying to be mean. Looping back to how Eddie made him more sociable, it's absolutely possible for others to achieve the same with Andrew. Infectious energy, and/or people he can trust and feel comfortable with, will bring out more in him. Generally, he tends to be a low-key gremlin, in the sense that he doesn't usually initiate entertaining trouble or shenanigans, but he sure as hell doesn't mind getting pulled into chaotic things, like parties and street racing. That said, Andrew has a hard limit on difficult conversations per month that he likes to stick to if he can, so he has a habit of doing everything in his power to avoid things he doesn't want to talk about. This ranges from silent staring until someone gives up, to exiting a room (or the entire building) to remove himself from the situation. He also has a bad habit of pretending he's fine when he absolutely isn't in the slightest. Stressful ghost stuff? It's fine, he has it under control, ignore the fact he was found passed out in the yard from the aforementioned ghost stuff. He really seems to struggle with some low-key anxiety that he never acknowledges, which definitely affects how he handles stressful situations.

+Motivations and goals: His current motivation that's pushing him through his grief and feeling unmoored, is finding out what happened to Eddie. Before losing him, Eddie was still most of his motivation, coaxing him towards college and then grad school. Left to his own devices, Andrew seems to just want to enjoy life, to chase the things that make him happy, like music, and reach a point where he's content and loved.

+Regrets and fears: Most of his regrets relate to not being there when Eddie needed him, not being able to prevent him from getting killed. Andrew's carrying around so much guilt about it, which is deepened when Eddie's revenant makes him live through the memories of his death, because he can only think that Eddie's ghost blames him for not being there. Andrew also has a handful of things he's afraid of or would otherwise prefer nothing to do with. He's considerably uncomfortable around ghosts, and he doesn't like hollers or caves--or basements. Basements freak him out and generally have a higher chance of containing ghosts than other spaces.

+Breaking points: He's got a pretty short temper, honestly. He always talks about Eddie's bad temper, but they seemed to have tried keeping each other held back in that regard, because Andrew can go from chill to pissed in under 5 seconds, and is highly prone to doing stupid things when he's pissed off. His biggest rage triggers are homophobia/bigotry, and anyone shit-talking Eddie. It's equally easy to bring Andrew to tears, and not just because he's grieving. Missing Eddie has made him break down crying many times, coupled with the way he blames himself for not being there. Long before that, though, Andrew's shown to have moments where he's been frightened to the point of sobbing, from struggling to deal with hearing and seeing ghosts for the first time. He's never exactly seemed ashamed of crying, he just generally doesn't like people seeing him cry, ie, he leaves the room or waits until he's alone. It's most likely about trust, since he seemed comfortable crying around Eddie. Andrew also goes through periods of emotional numbness, which he remarks is likely a survival instinct while he's struggling through his grief.

+Values: He appreciates showmanship and good driving. On a more serious note, he genuinely appreciates honesty and loyalty, though he was very used to Eddie bullshitting him, and it was never enough to ruin their friendship. They compromised and did their best. He was, however, pissed that Eddie had kept ghost research things from him, but that was exactly what Andrew never wanted to talk about, so they only would have fought. They were always loyal to each other though, the pair of them against the world, in it together until the end, when they weren't.

+How do they handle change and trauma? Specifically the changes and trauma of turning into a monster? Horribly. After the traumatic incident in the cavern as children, he struggled for months, spending the nights huddled into bed with Eddie and sobbing because of the ghostly whispers. While that's very understandable since they were 12 at the time, Andrew declared ghosts and their cavern experience a forbidden topic to be avoided at all costs as they grew older, no matter how much Eddie was very clearly desperate to talk about their 'ghost story'. With Andrew's firm avoidance, they fought about it more than anything else. Andrew believes nothing good comes from talking about it or looking into it. He doesn't want to know more or understand it. He's not going to want to talk about turning into a monster, either, but it's a shared experience, which might eventually coax him into opening up. He will be able to handle it though, no matter how unhappy he is at first.

Powers/Abilities: There's a lot of different things Andrew's ghost powers can do, so I figured that splitting them up into different aspects and choosing a few would make it all play nicer with a three power starting limit.

1. The curse + general stuff - the curse itself has a couple of distinct feelings for Andrew, the intensity of which changes depending on location and ghostly activity. It's generally described as a feral feeling in his chest or bones, or itching/a gnawing sensation in his joints or skin. It can also be a chill in the pit of his stomach, ghostly tendrils, or 'oily streaks' in his blood (not literal streaks, of course). The power gets restless at times, frustrated with Andrew refusing to use it or pay attention to it, and he does consciously keep it reined in, though keeping it locked up becomes harder when he's in places where a lot of death has happened. On the flip side, letting the power out of its box feels good, it's a rush, and even letting it out a little, where it's just existing, can drop the temperature in a room or area around him, accompanied by an unnerving feeling for anyone in that area, like a very primal fear. (When being used, the power's also detectable by psychics or anyone with ghost sensitivities.)

2. Seeing + hearing ghosts - whether or not Andrew holds his power in check, it gives him the ability to see and hear ghosts--which he hates. He and Eddie refer to the spirits as haunts or shades, and sometimes revenants. Haunts are the typical ones, not necessarily human shaped, but humanoid enough, while shades seem to be weaker haunts, less human shaped, sometimes more like puddles of darkness. Revenants are the bad ones, the most human shaped, the loudest and most active, but usually even they aren't physically dangerous. All of them come with unsettling feelings and unintelligible whispers, and if they have the chance, some of them try to pry into Andrew's dreams to share their bloody memories. He's gotten used to working on keeping them out, and generally follows the rule of ignoring them altogether. Haunts, and especially revenants, become stronger when someone pays attention to them--and worse still if they manage to feed on living blood.

3. Sensing lingering death - if a lot of people have died in a location, the curse will tune into the energy of that death and make Andrew aware of it. It's really not pleasant for him, because it tends to be a concentration of horrible feelings and negative energy. To make it worse, the power inside of him generally wants to tap into the energy of all that death and feed on it. (To what extent? Unsure! Probably just charges it like a battery.) Andrew has to try even more to keep the power in check, of course, and is usually successful. Tying into this, he can also tell if someone's in poor health and close to death themselves, seeing a dark miasma around them--similar to what he picks up from places with death, like graveyards.

Inventory: Half borrowed clothes (Sam's shirt, Sam's shorts), half his own (boxers, converse sneakers), wallet, keys (house and cars--Supra and Hellcat), cell phone
Game Plans: I'm really looking forward to Andrew being able to work through all of his shit. Talking to people and making friends, and having the space to figure things out will be good for him and interesting. He's going to be angry about turning into a monster at first, but I figure that'll actually push him towards talking to people. I'm also absolutely looking forward to shenanigans and transformations, and transformation shenanigans. Andrew's also probably going to be a bit of a chaotic gremlin and get into trouble, but him getting a chance to help people, too, would be neat.
Monster Choice:
1. Infernal: Cerberus
I think Cerberus would be a really interesting fit for Andrew, and it's my top choice, personally. It's got a different spin on being able to see/hear ghosts than he's used to, more of a protector-type lean, or at least less frightening for him. He's also incredibly loyal, and he'll follow people he cares about to the ends of the earth and do anything for them. And if Cerberus latches onto those who've experienced loss? Yeah--he's definitely going through that, currently.

2. Taurus: Satyr
Second choice, also could be interesting. Andrew loves music; he plays guitar (or did; he hasn't for a while), and he legitimately wrote his undergrad thesis on murder ballads. He also parties a lot and isn't a stranger to hedonistic tendencies and over-indulgence in alcohol and substances. Satyr ticks all of those boxes, along with the fact they're capable of violence and rage, cause Andrew can lose his temper easily and doesn't shy away from fighting.

3. Undead: Wraith
How could I not toss a ghost option on here. He's dealt with ghost related powers for half his life, and some of them would compliment his own. I just like the vibe of Wraith to go with everything that's known about the curse and the haunts Andrew's dealt with for years. He'd be a nightlight every night.
Vehicle Choice: A car, specifically the Hellcat (Dodge Challenger) left to him by Eddie. The trait is Fast.
Sample: Top level on the TDM
